Message board
The message board is a bulletin board where members hold running discussions, usually about a particular share, with all the replies kept together in one thread.
Some conversations need more than a post. When results are due, when a share has fallen hard, when a bid is rumoured, investors who hold or follow the share want to hear what others make of it and to argue the case. A message-board thread keeps that discussion together: one subject, replies in order, over days or weeks. Threads can be tied to a share, and the share's quote page lists the threads about it, so the discussion is a click from the price.
A thread is open to all members and is other investors' opinion, not a price and not advice. A short one-off note is a post rather than a thread. A conversation you want to keep between two people is a private message.
